Professor Michael Dougan: UNRAVELLING THE BREXIT MESS – TIME FOR SOME ANSWERS

November 8 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Back by popular demand after his last ‘sell-out’ talk in Stratford over a year ago and with perfect timing, Michael will be attempting to unravel the looming Brexit mess the country looks destined to be in after the 31st October. This is the date of Boris Johnson’s self-imposed deadline when he has said he would rather be ‘dead in a ditch than ask the EU for an extension and vowed the UK will have left the EU, ‘do or die’!

Worryingly, as we count down the days, we are still left with many more questions than answers. One thing we do know is that whatever happens on the 31st we are still likely to be in the grip of a Brexit crisis and the current uncertainty looks set to continue.

As before, Michael plans to do what he does best, provide us with his up-to-date incisive, informed and penetrating analysis of the current situation as well as providing plenty of opportunity for your questions. But be warned! As Michael gets to the heart of what Johnson and Cummings are really up to expect to come away even more concerned and alarmed!

ABOUT PROFESSOR MICHAEL DOUGAN

Michael was acclaimed as the internet star of the June 2016 referendum when his lecture on the ‘industrial-scale dishonesty’ of the Leave campaign attracted 7 million hits on Facebook and YouTube.   Since then he has attracted considerable notice for his in-depth commentary on the current post-referendum situation from his perspective as a leading EU lawyer.

Michael is Professor of European Law and Jean Monnet Chair in European Union Law at the University of Liverpool.  He specialises in EU Law, particularly EU constitutional law, the Single Market and EU welfare law.  He has published widely, provided written evidence to government enquiries, appeared as an expert witness to parliamentary committees and advised government departments on European affairs.
