BREXIT: THE RESISTANCE CONTINUES with Brendan Donnelly
February 7 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join us for an analysis of the way forward for those of us who regret losing our membership of the European Union and would like to restore it one day in the future. Bring your questions!
ABOUT THE EVENT
Brendan Donnelly is a popular speaker who has brought his expertise to Stratford several times in the last few years, helping us make sense of the Brexit debate. This time he will be giving us his insights into the state of play now that there is a new government committed to ending the transition period with or without a trade deal. He may have something to say about opposition politics as well.
Note the date of Brendan’s talk is just after the date when we will have left the EU, so we’re hoping for some indications of how best to continue supporting the pro-European cause. Expect at least some chinks of light in the gloom.
ABOUT BRENDAN DONNELLY
Brendan Donnelly was elected as a Member of the European Parliament in Sussex South and Crawley at the European Parliament election in 1994 for the Conservative Party. After losing his seat as an MEP in 1999, he later joined the Liberal Democrats but stood unsuccessfully in the 2014 European elections for the 4 Freedoms Party (UK EPP).
Mr Donnelly is now the director of the Federal Trust, a research institute which studies the interactions between regional, national, European and global levels of government. Founded in 1945 on the initiative of Sir William Beveridge, it has always had a particular interest in the European Union and Britain’s place in it.
Mr Donnelly has written a number of articles against Brexit which can be found on the Federal Trust website at https://fedtrust.co.uk/
Doors will open at 6.15 pm when light refreshments will be available before the 7.00 pm start. The event will end by 9.00 pm.
