Britain4Europe: Mass Lobby of Parliament

On 24th October, Britain for Europe organised a conference in Westminster Hall with many high-profile speakers who came to address the representatives from their associated groups all over the country. They also provided the facility and guidance on how to lobby MPs. The Stratford4Europe team came prepared with lists of questions for our local MPs and were very pleased that both Nadhim Zahawi (Stratford) and Matt Western (Warwick & Leamington), having been notified of the mass lobby, came to meet us and discuss the issues we raised. The conference ran…

Stratford Herald: Brexit Adds Pressure on Local Hotels

Reprinted in full from this Thursday’s edition of the Stratford Herald, see link below. “The Brexit vote is heaping yet more pressure on Stratford’s hospitality industry as local hotels struggle to recruit staff. Hotels in Stratford are already experiencing difficulties in recruiting staff, but there are fears that leaving the Europe may discourage EU workers from wanting to work in Britain’s hotels or tempt existing workers to leave. Some have suggested that worries over the fall in value of the pound and uncertainty over the rights of EU workers could…

Stratford for Europe – a brief history Where to start? Well, in June last year, two of our group found themselves campaigning together against leaving the EU, and given the outcome of the referendum, they felt it would be a shame if everything just stopped after June 23rd. So they sent a letter to the local paper inviting Remainers to get together to continue the challenge to Brexit. 40 people responded, and in November 2016 they assembled to hear a talk from Open Britain which enthused them to spread the…

Brexit Q&A with Stratford’s Parliamentary Candidates

Stratford4Europe asked the candidates from the four parties standing in Stratford on Avon five questions about their stance on Brexit related issues. The questions and their responses, in full, are below. What are your minimum criteria for an acceptable Brexit deal and what should be done if these are not met? Would you be willing to leave with no deal? Dominic Giles (Green Party) I would like to see us remain in the Single Market, maintain environmental laws and ensure EU citizens have the same rights after Brexit as they…

The Convention: Brexit and the Political Crash

It Requires New Thinking, New Leaders, New Voices and New Ideas. The Convention was the first large-scale event to offer organisations and individuals the chance to hear and take part in crucial debates about the United Kingdom’s future and the populist insurgencies that are sweeping Western democracies. Two members of Stratford4Europe were in attendance on the…
