Stratford4Europe Join 100,000 People’s Vote March in London

150 supporters of Stratford4Europe travelled down to London on Saturday 23rd June to make sure Stratford was superbly represented at the PEOPLES’ VOTE MARCH to Parliament.  The majority travelled in three coaches which departed from behind the Stratford Leisure Centre and many others travelled independently. In London they joined over 100,000 people of all ages and from all walks of life as well as from all the main political parties to demand that the final decision once, and if, any Brexit deal is reached should be given back to the…

Representing Stratford-on-Avon in Parliament with Britain4Europe

Mark Cunliffe, Stratford4Europe Supporter was selected to represent our constituency and joined guests of over 60 similar groups from around the country.  He tells us of his day: You might be aware that last month we were invited to Parliament and I was the lucky one who went.  The day started with me arriving and already nervous as hell turning up early to do my first stint at the Sodem daily protest outside, 5 minutes after my arrival about 25-35 EDL types turned up. Steve Bray (main guy you see…

S4E Spring Update

Following our lively programme of guest speakers last year, we started the year with a bang in that department. In early January, we attracted 200 people to a talk by the former President of the Farmers’ Union, Sir Peter Kendall. His theme was the impact of Brexit on British agriculture, and his assessment was rather sobering. It provoked a lot of questions from the audience in which the farming community were well represented, an interesting and slightly different mix from attendees at our previous events. It shows that people are…

Cross-Party Group of MPs Launch Push For “People’s Vote” On Brexit Deal

Stratford4Europe support the campaign for the People’s Vote. Brexit is less than a year away. What the government proposes is not a done deal. And it doesn’t have to be. One thing is sure. Brexit will not deliver for Britain. It will do serious damage to our economy. What’s worse, generations to come will pay the heaviest price. The Government keeps moving the goalposts. It is now determined to implement the most extreme – and reckless – form of Brexit. This is not what many people thought they were voting…

Stratford4Europe Asks On The Risk To Our NHS, “Brexit: Is It Worth It?”

Whilst the Brexiteers in charge of Brexiting continue to contradict themselves and each other, as well as deny promises made during the referendum campaign, the House of Commons Select Committees are systematically and methodically analysing the impact Brexit will have on the various aspects of our daily lives. Experts (yes, experts!) from both sides of the campaign are invited to submit evidence to these inquiries and a series of reports are being churned out. In other words, undertaking the painstaking, rigorous assessments that the public had been led to believe…

Stratford4Europe Asks On Security, “Brexit: Is It Worth It?”

Continuing our series of topical issues and debating the impact of Brexit upon them, Stratford4Europe turns to the question of security. The Foreign Affairs Committee, a cross-party committee of MPs appointed by the House of Commons to scrutinise Government on foreign policy issues, has recently published a report, The future of UK diplomacy in Europe. Stratford4Europe notes from the Conclusions, “The task of representing the UK’s interests and exercising influence in the EU institutions will be more difficult when the UK is a third country.” Tom Tugendhat MP (Cons), who…

Stratford4Europe Asks On Local Issues, “Brexit. Is it worth it?”

To mark the anniversary of triggering Article 50, Stratford4Europe are asking the constituents of Stratford-on-Avon, “Is Brexit Worth It?”. Designed to open dialogue, Stratford4Europe are asking people if, one year on, is Brexit really worth it? Is it worth the risk to our local economy which relies on the agriculture, automotive and hospitality industries?  Is it worth the rising food and petrol prices? Is it worth the risk to our NHS?  Is it worth the risk to our relationships within the Union, with Ireland and with our European friends and…
